Vermuteria

Vermuteria is an all day restaurant, café & bar, with its foundations built on the great European eateries and cafés found in Italy, France and Spain. Serving a vast selection of European Vermouths — ranging from the well known Italian house of Carpano to the much smaller English brand, Ostara — Vermuteria seeks to celebrate the unique heritage of each Vermouth.

Under the stewardship of Michelin-starred chef Anthony Demetre, Vermuteria’s philosophy is to source the best seasonal produce available, selected by like-minded producers and suppliers, handled with minimal fuss to create fresh and enticing menus.

The identity was informed by the beautiful patina of heritage typography to be found on European Vermouths, as well as their rich history as the lead sponsors of professional racing teams during the golden era of cycling.

Taking cues from the interiors, designed by Michael Sodeau, and a feature wall that displays a collection of vintage race ephemera and imagery, we designed a set of printed pieces for customers that appear to ‘crop’ into a much larger collage of references.

Using a variety of ‘heritage’ processes and techniques, from mosaic to gravure and gilding, in tandem with vintage photography and memorabilia, the identity is brought to life with the same richness of the ‘golden era’ from which it takes inspiration.
